How did women’s individual sexual freedoms change during the early 20th century and how did this shift in attitudes influence their gender

The Progressive Era was an important time for women's reform and was the start of the women's revolution. Before the Progressive Era, women were oppressed and treated as second class citizens. They were looked at as only wives and mothers, created only to obey and serve their husbands. With women's changing attitudes, reform movements followed close behind. Of such movements, was the birth control
movement. The birth control movement was one of the most important movements for women, in regards to women’s sexual freedoms. Activists such as Margret Sanger and Emma Goldman, fought to legalize birth control and fought to allow women to obtain knowledge about their bodies.
The movement met a considerable amount of opposition, as it tugged upon the moral issue of women’s sexual freedoms. During the Progressive Era women also experienced advances in industry and attained more jobs. This was accomplished through social, political, and governmental reform. Women during this era were given the right to vote through the 19th Amendment. The Women's Suffrage movement proved that women were strong enough to fight for their rights. Also during this time, many woman failed to receive the credit they deserved for the work they were doing in cinematography. Many important icons for the development of later films were a result of the contributes of film and cinema. Progressive women loosened their corsets and began to alter the way they dressed to express themselves more freely. The Progressive Era brought on many changes for women and their roles in society.
